Position: Full Time

Aberdein Considine are looking for a Risk & Compliance Officer who will support the Risk & Compliance Director to build and maintain the Risk Management Framework. The successful candidate will also support the Firm to ensure it complies with its outside regulatory requirements and internal policies. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help build and develop the Risk Management Framework
  • Perform routine risk assessments to help the Firm understand compliance risk, scope and significance
  • Work with business areas to monitor the Firm’s compliance with regulations and internal policies to ensure they are up to date with the relevant laws
  • Work with the Head of Training on educating employees on compliance regulations and internal policies, and the impact of non-compliance on the Firm
  • Record assessment findings properly and follow up with management to ensure the issues are rectified
  • Assist in the gathering of information internally in response to requests by regulatory organisations
  • Collaborate with management from other departments to ensure compliance and investigating irregularities. Contribute to robust and effective controls within the Firm
  • Highlight or escalate any areas of concern
  • Support the Risk & Compliance Director and other managers within the Firm with completion of Policy reviews
  • To ensure that the service delivery, processes and procedures of the firm are all created and implemented in accordance with Consumer Duty where appropriate, with the intention to minimise harm to consumers
  • Comply with the firm’s relevant processes / procedures at all times
  • Keep up to date with relevant regulatory, product, legislative, technical requirements
  • Work with the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer to ensure adequate systems and controls are in place to manage the firm’s exposure to financial crime risks
  • Undertake AML file reviews
  • Support AML training activity

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in Risk and/ or compliance operations in a law firm
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining risk management activities
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining financial crime controls

KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of risk and principles of risk management methodology
  • Knowledge and understanding of the FCA’s Consumer Duty Principle
  • Knowledge and understanding of FCA rules and regulation and the application to the business
  • Knowledge and understanding of key financial crime legislation

QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable

  • Compliance based qualification
