A day in the life of a Senior Associate Solicitor

A day in the life of a Senior Associate Solicitor

What does your day-to-day role look like?

My day to day role changes daily with the nature of the work as I will be assisting clients at various stages of a property transaction through-out the day. At the beginning my main role is to assist clients with the negotiation and contract stage of their sale or purchase which is called the missives. I'll help the clients agree the initial price for the property before we then begin to formalise matters in writing, during this stage we will examine titles deeds, legal reports, various searches and other relevant documentation to ensure the property being sold is what is expected and to identify any potential issues as early as possible. Once the clients are satisfied we then proceed to conclude the missives so the transaction becomes legally binding and the client will have an agreed date for the keys handover. I will also work closely with our estate agency team, to help manage the existing properties we have on the market and keep in touch with potential buyers who are on the lookout for properties and may need some guidance on the process to get started.

What valuable advice can you offer a client?
I can advise clients on a range of matters from buying and selling their property, to re-mortgaging and discharging their mortgage. I can also assist them with private client matters including preparing their will and setting up powers of attorney.
What is the most rewarding part of your role?

The most rewarding part of my role is being able to meet with clients and provide them a service that they will value and find reliable. Buying and selling property can be very stressful and I want to be able to make matters as smooth as possible for clients in the hope they will be happy to come back in the future.

What do you enjoy doing in your time out with work?
Out with the office, I spend a lot of time playing basketball for our local club, golfing and cooking.
