At Aberdein Considine, our people are our greatest asset - so every week we are meeting with a different member of the team so you can get to know them better.
Today we are getting to know Tom, financial planning expert based in both our Stirling and Perth office.
I’m one of the Independent Financial Advisers here at AC & Co, with a focus on Pension/Retirement planning, as well as Estate & Inheritance Tax projects. Alongside client work I’m also part of the Investment Committee, which oversees the funds & products we recommend as a firm.
My journey to this point hasn’t been linear; after studying Civil Engineering at University, I spent my time combining working for an insurance company and coaching ice hockey. At the same time I studied various financial exams covering personal financial planing, investment management, & stockbroking.
I enjoy dealing with the people, local restaurants, etc, and the combination of being in a city but also surrounded by some stunning countryside and hills.
Leighton House in Dunblane is stunning (as of course, are all our properties!) but my personal taste is for older buildings.
As described by my trainee: charming, talkative and intelligent.
I fear now I owe a lunch...
A fighter pilot, due to a diet of Biggles books and Commando comics as a child.
I’m a member of the Army Reserve, and although not that active this year, enjoy greatly being on exercise with my Squadron.
When not in green kit I can usually be found running up a hill, indoor climbing, walking over a moor with my partner, or eating out. I occasionally still play ice hockey.
Treat everyone as you'd want to be treated yourself, and admit speedily when you're wrong. The latter sadly happens to us all from time to time!
I'm named after Thomas the Tank Engine - the perils of allowing an 11 year old to name his new brother.
