Most buyers form their first impressions of a house within seconds of walking through the door.
To help make your property sale successful, our Stirling property expert James McKay has put together a list of his 'top tips' for selling property in the city.
It’s time to de-clutter. Take a plastic bag and go digging into the back of your drawers, cupboards, wardrobes, shed and attic. Once this has been done, you’ll be amazed at how much more space you have than you originally thought.
Although ripping everything out and starting again can seem like an exciting project, it can also be expensive and a bit of a disruption. Changing the appearance of your home can be made simple by re-placing internal doors and/or door handles. If you have a dining area, why not update those chairs and replace them with something sleek?
It doesn’t have to be a simple procession around your property, pointing out the obvious. Appealing to other senses too can have a great impact. Coffee percolating, the perfume of freshly cut flowers, baking bread, will add to the appeal of your property. Pet aromas won’t!
Remember to make the most of any period features. Point out to viewers that you have working shutters, original fireplaces or ornate cornicing/ceiling roses.
Presentation is everything when it comes to selling your home, that includes communal stairwells which can be in stark contrast to the apartments inside. A simple freshen up may be all that is needed to make sure that you property is well presented and tidy for both photographs and for viewings.
